Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or vocational school, including or supplemented by courses in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance.
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of municipal infrastructure.
  • Demonstrate safe working practices and adhere to safety policies and procedures.
  • Capability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, current staff members, and the general public.
  • Valid IL driver’s license and a safe driving record.
  • Able to lift or move up to 40 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Ability to acquire Class “D†water or Class “4†wastewater license within 1 year.
  • Understanding of SCADA operations.
  • Knowledge of computer applications, and ability to use & learn various software programs (MS Teams, Outlook, Hach WIMS, Utility Cloud).
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment.

Responsibilities

  • Operation and maintenance of water plant, wastewater treatment plant and remote pump station equipment.
  • Distribution and collection system maintenance and meter reading.
  • Perform all required laboratory analysis and make operational changes to treatment plant(s).
  • Provide mechanical repair skills, including mechanical and basic electrical system troubleshooting and repair of pumping equipment and control switches.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation on weekends, holidays, and outside normal workday hours.
  • Respond to emergency or unpredicted situations.
