About The Position

Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc, a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional and talented Operations Innovation Engineer I based at our Berea, KY manufacturing plant. This role partners with manufacturing and continuous improvement teams to identify operational challenges and improvement opportunities. The engineer will support proof-of-concept trials, pilot and implement new processes, tools, or technologies, and collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure alignment during pilot rollouts and production go-lives. Additionally, the role involves documenting lessons learned, best practices, and standard work, assisting with communicating improvement initiatives, and supporting the organization and upkeep of local innovation or test areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, operations, industrial engineering, or a related technical role
  • Working knowledge of industrial or mobile equipment systems, with an understanding of how product design impacts manufacturing, quality, and serviceability
  • Broad product and market awareness, including how regional and customer requirements influence design and production decisions
  • Solid engineering capability in design, testing, and validation processes, supporting data‑driven innovation and improvement efforts
  • Experience participating in innovation or continuous improvement initiatives, from concept development through pilot execution
  • Familiarity with engineering and manufacturing standards and methods, including documentation, change control, and design‑for‑manufacturability principles
  • Strong communication, presentation, and collaboration skills for success in cross‑functional, matrixed team environments
  • Foundational project management skills, including task planning, prioritization, and supporting multiple initiatives in parallel

Responsibilities

  • Partner with manufacturing and continuous improvement teams to identify operational challenges and improvement opportunities through regular plant and department meetings
  • Support proof‑of‑concept trials by assisting with planning, setup, testing, data collection, and evaluation
  • Help pilot and implement new processes, tools, or technologies by providing hands‑on support during trials and early production launches
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure alignment during pilot rollouts and production go‑lives
  • Document lessons learned, best practices, and standard work to support knowledge sharing across manufacturing teams
  • Assist with communicating improvement initiatives and results through presentations, reports, and shared content
  • Support the organization and upkeep of local innovation or test areas used for trials and experimentation
