About The Position

St. Johns County Facilities Maintenance department is seeking an Operations & Infrastructure Coordinator to support county services by improving workflows, managing projects, and enhancing overall operational efficiency. This role plays a key part in coordinating initiatives across infrastructure, facilities, asset management, fleet operations, and procurement while ensuring smooth, compliant, and cost‑effective service delivery. The Operations & Infrastructure Coordinator helps improve county operations by reviewing how work gets done, creating clear procedures, and keeping track of major projects. This job also supports inventory and fleet needs, works with vendors and purchasing, and provides helpful data to guide decisions. You will partner with different departments, assist with emergency and special projects, and help keep county operations efficient, organized, and accountable. The Facilities Management Department provides comprehensive facilities services including property management and maintenance for all properties and buildings owned by the St. Johns Board of County Commissioners. The department delivers the full spectrum of facilities management services for approximately 2 million square feet of County facilities. These properties range from general administrative offices, and judicial facilities to library and recreational facilities. In addition, the department provides in-house small construction services and project management of building repairs and renovations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, Business Administration, Political Science, or a related field, and three (3) years of professional administrative, analytical, program support, or human resources experience; or Associate degree in a related field and five (5) years of directly related professional experience; or High school diploma and seven (7) years of directly related professional experience.
  • Experience analyzing workflows, coordinating projects, and implementing operational improvements.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license and any other endorsements necessary to legally operate vehicles used while assigned to this position.
  • Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills to serve others.
  • Must be able to comprehend, speak and write the English language.
  • Must be able to operate a computer.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with capital improvement programs, procurement, and contract administration.
  • Lean Six Sigma, CAPM, or other continuous improvement certification.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate operational and infrastructure improvement projects to enhance county services and efficiency.
  • Review workflows and implement process improvements that reduce costs and increase productivity.
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and tracking infrastructure, facilities, and capital projects.
  • Support asset management activities, including inventory, lifecycle tracking, and accountability reporting.
  • Help manage fleet and equipment operations by monitoring usage, maintenance, readiness, and vehicle inventory.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), workflow documentation, and operational policies.
  • Coordinate procurement requests, vendor activities, contracts, and project deliverables.
  • Collect and analyze operational data to support informed decision‑making.
  • Monitor budgets, spending, and project timelines while ensuring compliance with county policies.
  • Work with multiple departments and divisions to improve operations and support strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with county policies, safety standards, and audit requirements.
  • Assist with emergency operations, special projects, and other county initiatives.
  • Maintain full‑time presence on the job.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
