Requirements

  • 4+ previous experience in freight brokerage, carrier sales, or logistics coordination.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Understanding of transportation modes, rate structures, and supply chain network design.
  • Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), CRM software, and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Sourcing, vetting, and managing relationships with motor carriers (trucking companies) to transport freight.
  • Resolving operational, billing, or service issues.
  • Negotiating freight rates and contracts with carriers to ensure cost-effective, competitive pricing.
  • Addressing and resolving problems related to carrier performance, such as missed appointments, tracking issues, or equipment failures.
  • Building and maintaining long-term partnerships with carriers to ensure consistent, reliable capacity.
  • Managing compliance with carrier safety protocols, insurance requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Identifying, vetting, and onboarding new motor carriers to support capacity needs, often using transportation management systems (TMS).
