About The Position

The Operations Finance Advisor will support the finance team with financial and analytical expertise driving focus on value, cost, and risk; support budgeting and reporting; support delivery of Finance activities required for Operations. Requirements

  • Experienced and competent finance professional, with a post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration, professional accounting designation (ACCA, CIMA, CPA or similar)
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience at a comparable level
  • Relentless attention to detail and continuous improvement in setting up, testing, and executing finance, controls and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience in good data management and financial software implementation skills.
  • Must have advanced skills in Excel, Power BI, and ERP system savvy.
  • Strong business partnering experience, preferably in project or asset setting.
  • Commercial curiosity to fully understand and explore value opportunities.
  • Ability to analyze financial and non-financial information and communicate outcomes to people from various backgrounds.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision modelling skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels throughout the organization, and experience participating in cross-functional initiatives or projects.
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)
  • Know that this role supports our Kitimat operations, and at times overnight travel may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with benchmarking exercises for manufacturing or producing assets will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide finance expertise to allocated client groups as we gain operational momentum
  • Support planning and budgeting processes and financial assurance events
  • Provide capacity to manage big data sets, able to aggregate, summarize and distill trends and variances explanation, run scenarios, and provide management summaries for presentations.
  • Support implementation of planning and appraisal software, conversion of data, supporting business to use the new tool, learn to create workflows and reports in the software implemented.
  • Provide analytical capacity to finance, value & risk assessment throughout the contracting process for new contracts.
  • Understand ERP systems, currently SAP, materials, fixed assets and capital spares accounting, tariffing, and cost allocations and how to be set in the system and analyzed for variances.
