About The Position

This position is responsible for the operations of filling machines and associated equipment. The role ensures quality and efficiency standards are met through reduced scrap loss and yield improvements. The operator must follow written and verbal procedures, assume responsibility for the filling area's efficiencies, safety, and quality, and adhere to all GMP and PPE requirements. Effective communication of relevant information is essential.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to set priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to stand for 12 hours for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to push/pull pallet jacks and lifts with heavy loads frequently.
  • Ability to go up and down stairways in a timely manner repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Ability to keep a good attendance record.
  • Accurate and detailed record keeping and legible handwriting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve moderate to complex issues.
  • Understanding of all procedures with all allergens.
  • Must follow all GMP's and Safety Procedures established by Management.
  • Ability to access a situation and make quick and accurate decisions that will aid in production.
  • Mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must be able to work around major allergens.
  • Must be able to climb/walk steps frequently.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, set-up, CIP, swap testing, monitor, and operate filling machines to maximize product quality and departmental efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring supplies and materials are stocked for the next shift.
  • Perform routine maintenance on filling machines, collaborating with Maintenance and Management.
  • Relieve other production team members for breaks and absences.
  • Conduct various quality checks (weight, machine, sterility, package integrity) to ensure standards are met.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operating difficulties with area equipment.
  • Accurately prepare and complete all area paperwork with legible handwriting as required by the FDA.
  • Monitor operational efficiencies, yields, and scrap loss with the management team to identify areas for improvement in plant productivity.
  • Maintain audit readiness in the work area at all times.
  • Follow all plant safety rules and report all accidents to the production supervisor.
  • Adhere to all Quality Assurance System guidelines.
  • Follow SOPs for machine adjustments, splicing packaging material, and preparing laminate to ensure high-quality packages.
  • Ensure compliance with the HACCP and SQF program.
  • Identify all critical control points and understand their functions related to the filling process.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and assist with general housekeeping in other plant areas.
  • Ensure effective shift communication and teamwork with other operators and support groups.
  • Continuously improve knowledge of the aseptic filling area.

Benefits

  • Shift Differential: $2.00/hour shift differential offered for working 12-hour night shift on a 2-2-3 pattern.
