About The Position

This role is for an Aseptic Filler I on the Day Shift, requiring basic knowledge and a 90-day training period. The primary responsibilities involve operating aseptic filling machines and associated equipment, ensuring quality and efficiency standards are met through scrap reduction and yield improvements. The position demands adherence to GMP and PPE requirements for safety, effective communication, and the ability to cover for absent colleagues.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

  • Ability to go up and down stairways in a timely manner repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Ability to keep a good attendance record.
  • Accurate and detailed record keeping.
  • Legible handwriting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve moderate to complex issues.
  • Understanding of all procedures with all allergens.
  • Follow all GMP's and Safety Procedures established by Management.
  • Ability to access a situation and make quick and accurate decisions that will aid in production.

  • Ability to climb/walk steps frequently.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Aseptic Filling Machines and associated equipment.
  • Ensure quality and efficiency standards are met by reducing scrap loss and improving yields.
  • Maintain safety, quality, and GMP/PPE compliance within the filling area.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, relevant information.
  • Cover for vacations and absences of other employees.
  • Coordinate, set-up, CIP, swab test, monitor, and operate Aseptic Filling Machines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized working area, ensuring supplies and materials are stocked for the next shift.
  • Assist with routine maintenance on filling machines and communicate with Maintenance and Management.
  • Relieve other production team members for breaks and absences.
  • Perform quality checks, including weight, machine, sterility, and package integrity checks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operating difficulties with area equipment.
  • Accurately prepare and complete all area paperwork with legible handwriting.
  • Monitor operational efficiencies, yields, and scrap loss with the management team to improve plant productivity.
  • Ensure the work area is always audit-ready.
  • Wear required PPE.
  • Adhere to all plant safety rules and report near misses and accidents.
  • Participate in plant safety programs, including monthly inspections and reporting hazards.
  • Adhere to Quality Assurance System guidelines and follow SOPs and SSOPs.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, and SQF programs.
  • Identify critical control points and understand their functions.
  • Assist Maintenance Technicians during maintenance activities.
  • Report equipment in disrepair immediately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and assist with general housekeeping plant-wide.
  • Ensure effective shift communication and teamwork with other operators and support groups.
  • Be professional and respectful when communicating via handheld radios.
  • Promote and contribute to team development and work well with co-workers.
  • Assist in coaching and training employees as requested.
  • Continuously improve knowledge of the Aseptic Filling process and become familiar with SunOpta 360.
  • Complete and adhere to the Annual Alchemy Schedule.
