We are currently looking to hire a qualified Operations Engineering Technician II to provide support to the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division’s (NAWCWD) PTMO (Pacific Target and Marine Operations) program at Naval Base Ventura County, Port Hueneme, CA. Primary Duties: Main duties will be working in, on and around various types of seaborne targets, vessels, and marine equipment by performing any one or a combination of the following: cleaning, sanding, paint stripping, painting, installing or assembling. Position location is Seaborne Targets Operations and Maintenance Division, working under specific guidance from shop leads. Advanced knowledge with gasoline inboard/outboard marine engines (any type), generator systems and related marine auxiliary equipment is desired Assist in diagnosing marine engine malfunctions and help effect repairs to restore equipment to an operating condition. Follow established preventative maintenance programs utilizing technical service manuals and schematic charts for marine engines and related marine equipment under the care of a qualified technician. Occasionally serve as a crew member on various size vessels. Additional duties to include, certify to operate Weight Handling Equipment (WHE), conduct line handling, and boat checks, are required. Work Conditions: Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors. Outdoor duties may be performed on shore and afloat on even or uneven surfaces, which may be dry or wet. Requires the ability to work in a seaborne environment with some shift work at remote locations with occasional over-night assignments. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Travel to remote working locations for mission support is required and routine deployments on support and target vessels may be required INCONUS and occasionally OCONUS. Overtime required at times to support operations. Work Schedule currently is a 9/80 schedule (Mon – Thurs, 9 hours, alternating Fridays, 1 work 8 hrs. 1 off)
