The Operations Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, integration, and continuous improvement of technology solutions that support enterprise IT service management and operational excellence initiatives. This position combines systems engineering, platform administration, process automation, and operational analytics to improve reliability, efficiency, scalability, and user experience across health care and academic technology environments. The Operations Engineer serves as a technical leader within the Service Management team, collaborating with infrastructure, application, security, clinical, and operational stakeholders to engineer solutions that modernize service delivery, automate workflows, integrate enterprise systems, and enable data-driven decision-making. This role is responsible for translating business and operational requirements into sustainable technical solutions while ensuring alignment with organizational standards, compliance requirements, and strategic objectives. The Operations Engineer will report to the Lead Application Developer, HCIS, who in turn reports to the Director of Communication & Collaboration Applications in HCIS. The role will operate within the Service Management team to drive workstreams, while interacting cross-functionally with IT, clinical, operational, and administrative partners. This position is eligible for hybrid work within the state of Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.
