About The Position

The Operations Engineer for Coeur D'Alene, Idaho provides engineering support for the North Idaho distribution system. You'll work closely with local representatives, line crews, and CPCs to ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective design and operation of the electric distribution system. Performs load-flow analysis using Synergi and evaluates the impact of system modifications and new load service requests. Develops and issues switching orders for both planned and unplanned work, as well as for system reconfigurations. Partners with Distribution Planning to support area-wide load service studies. Monitors system performance, including feeder loading, voltage regulation, and protective device coordination on primary distribution circuits. Maintains subject matter expertise in applicable codes and standards, including NESC, WAC, and other relevant design and regulatory requirements. Provides engineering and design support for capital construction projects, assists with field construction activities, and performs project management and engineering oversight as directed by the local office manager. Responsible for managing department-driven budgets associated with the North Idaho service area. Accountable for the overall engineering needs of the assigned area, including, but not limited to, the responsibilities outlined above and below.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in an ABET-accredited Engineering Program.
  • Electrical engineering discipline and/or direct operations engineer experience preferred.
  • Effective and flexible communication skills.
  • 0-1 years engineering work experience preferred (Entry Engineer)
  • Minimum of one (1) year of engineering work experience required (Assistant Engineer)
  • Minimum of two (2) years of engineering work experience required (Associate Engineer)
  • Minimum of four (4) years engineering work experience required (Engineer)
  • Minimum of six (6) years engineering work experience required (Senior Engineer)
  • Demonstrated skills illustrating use of productivity, presentation, and analytical tools specific to area of expertise (Senior Engineer)
  • Demonstrated technical leadership within engineering (Senior Engineer)
  • Demonstrated positive and effective working relationships with internal and external parties (Senior Engineer)
  • Specialty technical proficiency, project leadership, and ability to be self-directed (Senior Engineer)

Responsibilities

  • Provide detailed cost estimates, economic analysis of alternatives, and on-going project cost analysis.
  • Performs project management to schedule projects and provide engineering support throughout project construction.
  • Prepares detailed equipment, material, and project specifications.
  • Provides specific technical support and training to other departments relative to maintenance and the normal and emergency operation of the electric system, facilities, and associated equipment.
