About The Position

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking an Operations Engineer II to lead and coordinate design development efforts for optimal solutions within the logistics network. This role involves equipment specification, material flow, process design, ergonomics, associate experience, operational considerations, and Fulfillment center layout interferences. The engineer will develop and improve technical and design specifications for automated and non-automated Material Handling Equipment, drive standardization using Lean methods, and identify/test new technologies. Collaboration with partner teams in Safety, ergonomics, and Operations is crucial, as is developing performance specifications for facilities and equipment that meet unique operating requirements and safety codes. Domestic travel up to 90% may be required.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field and 2 year(s) of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • In the alternative, a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field followed by 5 year(s) of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • Experience as a project engineer, process engineer, project manager, manufacturing engineer, or related occupation.
  • Experience in leading projects, programs or initiatives with continually increasing scope and impact.
  • Experience in managing the lifecycle of cross-functional projects, implementing automated equipment and/or integrated systems.
  • Experience in CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate design development efforts for optimal solutions for the logistics network through equipment specification, material flow, process design, ergonomics, associate experience, operational considerations and Fulfillment center layout interferences.
  • Develop and continuously improve technical and design specifications for automated and nonautomated Material Handling Equipment.
  • Drive standardization with quantification and documentation of core design principles using Lean methods.
  • Identify and test new technologies to continuously improve processes.
  • Support post-mortem on designs and specifications after implementation in partnering with customers, stakeholders and supplier/integrators.
  • Work closely with partner teams in Safety, ergonomics and Operations to build impactful products.
  • Develop performance specifications for facilities and equipment meeting unique operating requirements and safety codes.
