About The Position

Gulfstream Aerospace is seeking a talented and motivated Operations Engineer I to join their team. This entry-level position focuses on optimizing operations processes, problem-solving manufacturing issues, and driving improvements in production methods and procedures. The role involves working with specific production processes, including sequence/flow, tooling, equipment, layout, material fabrication, and assembly methods. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of engineering configuration requirements, tooling, quality control, plant safety, blueprint reading, and shop math, with the ability to operate computerized equipment like personal computers and CATIA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or related curriculum, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Entry level position.
  • Knowledgeable about Engineering configuration requirements, tooling, quality control, plant safety, blueprint reading, and shop math.
  • Ability to operate computerized equipment, such as personal computers, CATIA, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma principles.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and maintain detailed work instructions for the assigned manufacturing process.
  • Drive quality improvements, efficiency improvements, and material presentation enhancements.
  • Manage the daily work plan and provide metrics for quality and schedule performance.
  • Coordinate engineering and tooling changes as required to meet Operations goals.
  • Perform Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) analysis on quality defects.
  • Conduct technical studies and analysis of operations (existing or proposed).
  • Define equipment/tooling needs and implement correct methods of manufacturing.
  • Assist in make-or-buy proposals and recommend corrective actions.
  • Evaluate vendors and assist in resolving vendor problems.
  • Conduct research, investigation, and analysis to ensure conformance to requirements.
  • Investigate and assist in preparing justification for equipment and facility improvements.
  • Perform producibility studies from engineering drawings to enhance manufacturing ability.
  • Participate in Design for Manufacturing assessments with Engineering.
  • Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  • Incorporate Lean Manufacturing Methodology into existing and future processes.
  • Lead/coordinate the implementation of projects among multiple organizations to achieve process improvement goals.
  • Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles to manufacturing methods.
  • Support all Safety, Sustainability and Ergonomic Initiatives.
  • Aid in development and maintenance of Business Continuity Plan.
  • Ensure Quality policies are being practiced and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Initiate and maintain accurate daily/weekly activity status reports.
  • Function as Operations Manager substitute.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
