Operations Engineer Co-Op/Intern Where will you work: Uncle Sam Manufacturing Facility: 7250 Highway 44, Convent, LA 70723 Housing and relocation can be provided for qualified candidates. An Operations Engineer Co-Op/Intern at Mosaic, as part of the Concentrates team, this role supports day-to-day operations and long-term process improvement initiatives. The position involves hands-on fieldwork, technical analysis, and collaboration across departments to ensure efficient, safe, and sustainable phosphate processing. Requirements

  • Sophomore level by May 2026 or higher pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineer.
  • For Louisiana ONLY: TWIC Card or ability to get a TWIC card.
  • 2.75 GPA or higher
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license - You will need to be able to travel to and from sites and/or office.
  • Ability to work full time and be a student in standing at the time of the co-op/internship
  • Selected candidates will be required to successfully complete the following: Post-offer/pre-placement drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, functional capacity examination.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Experience working in a team environment is a must.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of experience volunteering, working with student/school organizations, or work is preferred.
  • Previous internship or co-op experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with an industrial environment is highly desirable.
  • Effective verbal communication skills is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring and optimizing phosphoric acid production processes.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts to identify root causes of operational issues.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on process efficiency and reliability.
  • Evaluate and implement strategies to reduce process chemical usage.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings through sustainable chemical practices.
  • Conduct assessments of alternative chemicals and process modifications to improve environmental performance.
  • Prepare and present technical findings and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
  • Communicate with various levels of personnel throughout the organization, including management, plant operators, engineers (of various disciplines), lab personnel, and contractors
  • Participation in department meetings and meetings specific to the project assignment
  • Adhering to Mosaic’s mission, guiding principles and priorities, and key competencies
