About The Position

The Product Delivery Center (PDC) Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager will partner with the PDC leadership team to ensure EH&S regulatory compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations and adherence to P&W procedures and RTX EH&S Standard Practices. The Operations EH&S Manager reports directly to the Site Environmental Health & Safety Manager. This role involves developing, setting, and driving strategic EH&S initiatives within the PDC module center, managing, training, and mentoring EH&S professionals supporting the PDC module center. The position also involves working on cross-functional projects that interface with other groups external to and within the site EH&S team. A key responsibility is managing the administration of the PDC EH&S Council, including interfacing with subcommittees, updating performance trends, and tracking EH&S projects to completion. The role acts as the site program manager for health and safety programs such as Industrial Hygiene, OSHA Recordkeeping, Incident Investigation & Case Management, Site Communications, and other health and safety programs. Additionally, the manager will coordinate and conduct specialized health and/or safety audits and inspections of premises and operations, conduct trend analysis for inspections/audits, injuries, spills, and near misses, and develop corrective/preventive actions. The role also includes providing and ensuring EH&S training is conducted, assisting with investigations and mistake-proofing initiatives, and providing response/guidance as a spill responder on a rotating on-call schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 or more years of experience in an environmental engineering, occupational safety & health, environmental management, chemistry, chemical engineering or similar environment OR a Master's degree and 7 or more years of experience in an environmental engineering, occupational safety & health, environmental management, chemistry, chemical engineering or similar environment
  • Previous EH&S experience developing and implementing industry leading Safety and Health Program.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Prior experience forming, facilitating, and maintaining internal and cross functional teams and relationships.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

  • Previous experience coaching, leading, developing and mentoring a team
  • Continuous Improvement experience e.g., CORE, Six Sigma, LEAN etc.
  • Additional certifications, such as CSP, CIH.P.E. or CHMM

  • Assist line management with effective investigations and mistake proofing initiatives.
  • Provide and ensure EH&S training is conducted, assist as necessary.
  • Provide response/guidance as a spill responder on a rotating on-call schedule.
