About The Position

CDE Lightband, the municipal electric and broadband power provider for the City of Clarksville, offers electric, television, internet, and phone service to customers within the city limits. CDE Lightband serves over 86,000 metered homes and businesses with electric service and over 30,000 customers with broadband services over our Fiber to the Premise Network. We are looking for an ideal candidate to join the Operations Dispatch team full-time. The Operations Dispatcher serves as the central communications hub for CDE Lightband's electric and broadband networks. This role is responsible for coordinating real-time service restoration, managing field crews' work orders, and providing high-level technical support to customers. Operating within a rotating shift framework, the Dispatcher ensures that power and data services are maintained or restored efficiently, safely, and with the highest level of accuracy.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Two-Years' Experience in a clerical or customer service experience
  • CPR/AED or ability to obtain upon hire
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job is also considered
  • Knowledgeable of CDE Lightband operations and emergency situations
  • Knowledgeable of and Skilled in Customer Service practices and principles
  • Knowledgeable of City Geography
  • Skilled in Prioritizing and Assigning Work
  • Skilled in coordinating assignments and remaining calm and professional in emergency situations
  • Skilled in Basic Computer and related software applications
  • Skilled in utilizing necessary field equipment
  • Skilled in coordinating operational activities, preparing and processing work orders
  • Skilled in Organizing and presenting data, preparing operational records and reports.
  • Ability to work independently & individually, to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both in writing and through the spoken word.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
  • Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task

Responsibilities

  • Receives and routes service calls; coordinates, prioritizes, and assigns service orders; communicates information between work crews and the dispatch center; determines emergency priorities and dispatches units as necessary.
  • Performs specialized technical tasks using the SCADA system for remote control of substation breakers and other equipment
  • Monitor & Administer Surveillance Systems; Responding to all alarms and notices as trained while utilizing the tools provided for constant system security and reliability
  • Dispatches appropriate units to specific calls utilizing a radio console; tracks calls and notifies appropriate individual(s) of situations requiring their attention
  • Maintains operational records and logs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, of a similar nature, or to provide assistance as needed
