About The Position

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Operations Director of Human Services at the Merrimack Valley YMCA strengthens the foundations of community through leading and implementing the work around housing and food insecurity. The Operations Director manages all aspects of our 73-unit Single Room Occupancy residence, located on the 3rd and 4th floors of the Lawrence YMCA fostering a culture of inclusivity, support, transition, and community among our residents. The Operations Director is based out of the Lawrence Branch and has association influence in the work of food security. OUR CULTURE: Our mission and core values are brought to life by our culture. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human/social services, or a related field or equivalent education/experience.
  • Accomplishments in collaboration, programming planning and innovation, and fiscal management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, peers, volunteers, customers and the general public.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, as well as the ability to collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions, reason and solve problems.
  • Positive, impactful, results oriented leader.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a nonprofit environment is preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all day-to-day operations, programs, and services within the SRO Housing at the Lawrence YMCA.
  • Work directly with the leadership of the City of Lawrence Housing Authority to provide a resident-centered approach to case management that demonstrates and promotes progress through supportive resources that address the basic needs of our residents.
  • Manage vendor relationships that provide SRO services, including security and pest control
  • Cultivate new and existing partnerships that will provide resources to enhance the quality of life for all residents.
  • Coordinates, develops, and executes with the branch leadership teams short- and long-range plans for expansion of food insecurity programs across the Merrimack Valley.
  • Expand volunteer opportunities in the organization related to food distribution and collection and beyond.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with other agencies and organizations.
  • Prepare concise reporting on state compliance, ensuring all audits and reporting mechanisms are on-time and that we are in full compliance with all guidelines.
  • Manage staff that include case worker(s), maintenance staff and security staff, food insecurity staff and volunteers; hold all social service team members accountable to their responsibilities, execute performance reviews, and work with senior leadership to provide development opportunities for continued growth.
  • In conjunction with branch executive directors, maintain SRO facilities and food trucks within scope of responsibility.
  • Continuously evaluate the scope and content of the programs offered to ensure we are serving the needs of our rapidly changing communities.
  • Works with Director of Grant Management and Chief Operating Officer to secure, expand and report on funding opportunities.
  • Work with senior management on budgeting and manage monthly finances
  • Serve on the Lawrence Branch leadership team, collaboratively work with all Directors from the Lawrence Team to provide a safe, inclusive, and welcome-for all culture at the Merrimack Valley YMCA Lawrence Branch.
