About The Position

Southwest Power Pool (SPP) is seeking an Operations Developer Intern for the Summer of 2027. This is a 10-12 week, 40 hours per week, project-based internship where interns will complete real work supporting the company's overall business goals. SPP has been recognized as one of Arkansas’ Best Places to work. The internship is paid, and housing will be provided if needed. Team activities may be scheduled after hours, and each intern will be required to deliver a final presentation. SPP is unable to sponsor employment visas or student-work authorizations (STEM OPT) for this position.

Requirements

  • A college student entering their Senior year working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • 3.0 GPA or above preferred
  • Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, and PPT.
  • Financial, analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with any of the following could be utilized: SQL, SAS, Groovy, Java, Linux, Tableau, Oracle, Mongo
  • Ability to communicate effectively with settlement analysts, accountants, engineers, management and senior management. This communication, both written and oral, is for the purposes of requests, analysis, coordination, guidance and presentations
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer focus
  • Knowledge of computer business applications and data base management systems

Responsibilities

  • Obtain proficiency on the applications, functionality, and processes used within the Market Operations Development team that are in-scope for the assigned project.
  • Work with team members to obtain experience as a developer and to understand what we do here at SPP.
  • Develop, test, and implement solutions to assigned project.
  • Provide training and documentation on the work or processes that were developed.
  • Utilize an issue management system to oversee the documentation and management of assigned tasks.
  • Coordinate change and release management.
  • Participate in analysis and definition of customer, business and technical requirements.
  • Coordinate with the team to design and implement technical solutions.
  • Follow SDLC best practices for development activities.
