About The Position

The Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA) is seeking an Operations Desk Attendant to ensure a world-class entertainment experience for theatre patrons, employees, and volunteers. This role is primarily responsible for greeting visitors and answering phones in a courteous, helpful, efficient, and professional manner, while also maintaining the security and cleanliness of the south lobby entrance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good telephone skills.
  • Ability to handle potentially difficult situations with tact and sound judgment.
  • Knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders, bend and kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Successful background check.

Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming calls within 4 rings and forward calls to the appropriate extension.
  • Refer to standard information list to answer patrons' questions regarding parking, directions, and show information.
  • Monitor the south lobby entrance to prevent unauthorized entry.
  • Document and forward complaints received by phone to the appropriate manager.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the south lobby entrance and operations desk.
  • Ensure out-bound mail is picked up by the proper mail carrier.
  • Manage rehearsal room keys, documenting when they are borrowed and returned.
  • Open daily mail deliveries and notify CAPA staff as needed.
  • Maintain the calendar for rooms in the lower level of the Ohio Theatre.
  • Monitor facility cameras and notify superiors and staff of issues.
  • Occasionally scan tickets at business office doors during events.
  • Notify appropriate operations staff of any safety, security, or maintenance problems, being aware of areas off-limits to the public.
  • Secure the building before leaving, following documented closing procedures.
  • Upkeep training and information documents for other desk attendants.
  • Coordinate public tours of theatres.
  • Provide administrative support for the CAPA business office as needed.
