About The Position

Join a team that believes recreation and wellness changes lives. As the Coordinator Operations, you'll lead meaningful programs, develop student leaders, and help create a thriving campus community. The Coordinator Operations assists with the daily management of the Colvin Recreation Center, Seretean Wellness Center, and Colvin Annex within the Department of Wellness. This position plays a key role in maintaining safe, clean, efficient, and welcoming facilities while supporting operational excellence and risk management initiatives across the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Promotion, Recreation Management, Leisure Studies, Exercise Science or another related field (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • One year of related professional experience. A two-year Graduate Assistantship will be considered as 1-year of full-time experience.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Recreation Management, Leisure Studies or related degree
  • Two to three years' experience in recreation center operations to include hiring, training, and supervision of students.
  • A completed two-year graduate assistantship in operations in a campus recreation setting.
  • Two to three years of Operations experience in a supervisory environment.
  • Registered Collegiate Recreational Sports Professional (RCRSP)
  • Previous experience with time and attendance software.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with daily facility operations, including staffing, maintenance coordination, and enforcement of policies and procedures.
  • Recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating student Operations Attendants, Operations Supervisors, and a Graduate Assistant Operations.
  • Ensuring facilities meet high standards of cleanliness, appearance, and operational readiness through routine inspections.
  • Supporting customer service excellence by ensuring facilities are welcoming, clean, safe, and appropriately staffed.
  • Assisting with payroll processing, budgeting, and inventory management for operational supplies, safety equipment, and facility resources.
  • Contributing to risk management efforts through safety audits, incident response procedures, emergency preparedness planning, and staff training.
  • Monitoring facility compliance with departmental, university, and industry safety standards and best practices.
  • Assisting with the development and delivery of safety training programs for student staff, with an emphasis on emergency response, hazard recognition, and facility protocols.
  • Providing on-site supervision during evening and weekend hours as part of departmental operational coverage as necessary.
