The integrity and resourcefulness of our people are the foundation of that commitment. The Operations Assistant supports the safe, efficient handling of grain throughout the facility. This role contributes to maintaining a safe and respectful workplace, clean and well-maintained facilities, reliable operations, positive customer service, and effective working relationships with colleagues, customers, and business partners.

Requirements

  • A commitment to following safety procedures, operating instructions, and site policies while completing assigned work safely, accurately, and on time.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with team members, supervisors, customers, and business partners, and contribute to a respectful workplace.
  • Willingness to learn and apply grain handling procedures, equipment operation, quality assessment processes, documentation requirements, and programmable logic controller (PLC) systems, with training provided.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing operational priorities and work requirements in a grain handling environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of grain grading.
  • Experience with grain cleaning operations.
  • Familiarity with grain handling equipment and processes.
  • Previous elevator or terminal experience.

Responsibilities

  • Receive grain by truck, including weighing loads, collecting required documentation, and following site procedures.
  • Collect grain samples and assist with grain quality assessment and grain cleaning activities in accordance with established procedures.
  • Bin, transfer, monitor, and ship grain while following operational, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Operate terminal control systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and other equipment, where trained and authorized.
  • Support rail car and locomotive-related activities, where trained and authorized.
  • Provide timely, respectful, and professional service to farmers, commercial truck drivers, customers, business partners, and other visitors.
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with team members and other stakeholders to support safe and efficient operations and respond to changing priorities.
  • Follow Environmental, Health and Safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices, and help maintain clean, organized, and well-maintained facilities.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
