The opportunity We currently have an opportunity for an Operations Apprentice to join our operations apprenticeship program based in our Farmington, CT office. The operations apprenticeship program is opened is exclusively for Capital Community College students only and will be a pathway to learning and building skills to enable career development within the property-casualty industry through assignments in our Operations and Underwriting Support departments. The apprentice will concurrently be enrolled in an associate degree program while working a minimum of 15 hours. This is a one-year program running from June 2026 - May 2027. The apprentice will work under ongoing, direct supervision and work efforts will be reviewed for accuracy and completion.  Some of the Operations Apprentice responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Requirements

  • Self-starter; curiosity
  • Must be currently enrolled at Capital Community College 
  • Some experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Time-management, ability to prioritize and apply attention to detail
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communications and organizational skills
  • Expected to maintain a “C” average within Associate’s degree program

Nice To Haves

  • Able to work collaboratively within a team environment, with capacity to take direction and openness to coaching
  • High-school diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Continuous learning and development regarding the skills and competencies applicable to roles within the organization’s insurance and shared services functions
  • Follow instructions from department staff related to customer service, underwriting support, systems development, etc. in support of assigned work
  • Contribute to team operating goals by completing functional tasks as assigned
  • Demonstrate emerging capabilities to incrementally achieve added responsibilities within scope of work area
  • Ongoing participation in team meetings and other communications forums to build an understanding of the business, culture, and success measures
