About The Position

Lilly RTP is looking for eager individuals excited to get their start in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Lilly is partnering with local community colleges (Wake Tech and Durham Tech) and the NC Life Sciences Apprenticeship Consortium to hire Operations Apprentices into our Packaging area at our new state-of-the-art highly automated facility in Durham, NC. The Operations Apprentice will work as a Lilly employee while simultaneously continuing their education at Wake Tech. This is a one-year long apprenticeship with the opportunity to be converted to an Operator/Process Technician once all apprenticeship requirements are met. These requirements include completing 2 semesters of courses at Wake tech, on top of working onsite at Lilly as an apprentice. The cost of the courses and educational materials will be covered by Lilly. The Operations Apprentice will be a part of the Material Prep, Formulation, or Filling team, where Lilly pre-filled syringes are produced. The apprentice will be responsible for the safe operation of highly automated equipment producing products of the highest quality serving Lilly patients worldwide.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Holds a BioWork Certification through a local community college
  • Be able to work 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 rotation
  • Be able to complete the ongoing education requirements of the apprenticeship.
  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization and visas for this role, including but not limited to F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, F-1 STEM OPT, J-1, H-1B, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, or L-1.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to RTP Plant safety policies and procedures, contribute to a safe work environment.
  • Execute manufacturing activities in the respected areas of operation
  • Material Prep-operate parts washer, autoclave, filter testing, tub loading machine, palletizer
  • Formulation-operate mixing tanks, filtration system, filter testing
  • Filling-operate filling equipment, robotics, filtration system
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and current Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure quality of product.
  • Document process steps on appropriate batch documentation (Electronic Ticket, SAP, Cleaning Logs, etc.).
  • Attain and maintain qualification for the operation of assigned process equipment and duties in the area.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements.
  • Proactively monitor documentation and product quality, properly documenting all activities and reporting issues to supervision.
  • Contribute to the achievement of key departmental objectives including improving safety performance, reducing deviations, improving productivity, and training compliance.
