About The Position

Rayburn Energy Station 2 (RES 2) is a new fast-start simple-cycle facility under construction, featuring ten Siemens SGT-800 combustion turbine-generator units. The O&M Technician will support the pre-commissioning, startup, and ongoing operations of RES 2. During pre-commissioning, this role involves equipment inspections, mechanical readiness checks, system testing, and preparations for commercial operations. Once operational, the technician will operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain the facility's Siemens SGT-800 units and associated balance-of-plant systems, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient power generation through routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and adherence to safety and environmental standards.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in power generation, gas turbine operations, industrial maintenance, or a comparable heavy industrial environment involving rotating equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Working knowledge of combustion turbine operating principles, auxiliary equipment, plant processes, and safe operating practices, including equipment startups, shutdowns, and routine operational monitoring.
  • Hands-on experience inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves, motors, piping systems, and turbine auxiliary components.
  • Familiarity with plant instrumentation, control systems, operating parameters, and equipment performance monitoring, with the ability to recognize abnormal conditions and respond appropriately.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documentation, including equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, P&IDs, schematics, and maintenance instructions, while maintaining accurate operational and maintenance records.
  • Understanding of industrial safety standards, including LOTO, hazardous energy control, OSHA requirements, environmental regulations, and established safe work practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, contractors, and equipment vendors to support equipment reliability and operational objectives.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, analytical reasoning, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license and ensure it remains in good standing at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in power plant technology, a related technical field, or engineering is preferred. Relevant industry or military experience may be considered in lieu of education.

Responsibilities

  • Complete required training on Siemens SGT-800 combustion turbines, associated auxiliary equipment, plant operating procedures, safety protocols, and site systems.
  • Inspect and assist with equipment assembly verification, alignment checks, functional testing, and mechanical readiness assessments to support commissioning and startup activities.
  • Document equipment conditions, inspection findings, testing results, and identified deficiencies to support system turnover, corrective actions, and operational readiness.
  • Coordinate with engineering personnel, equipment vendors, contractors, and commissioning teams to support safe and efficient completion of pre-commissioning activities.
  • Operate Siemens SGT-800 combustion turbine-generator units and associated balance-of-plant systems in accordance with established operating procedures, equipment limitations, and safety requirements.
  • Execute equipment startups, shutdowns, operational adjustments, and routine system checks to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance.
  • Monitor operating parameters, including temperatures, pressures, vibration, fluid levels, and equipment performance, to identify abnormalities and maintain operating reliability.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on turbines, pumps, valves, motors, piping, and auxiliary equipment, including lubrication, adjustments, inspections, and minor component replacements.
  • Verify equipment readiness for operation through pre-startup inspections, system checks, equipment configuration reviews, and confirmation of operating conditions.
  • Maintain accurate operating logs, inspection records, equipment histories, and maintenance documentation using the plant's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Investigate abnormal operating conditions, equipment malfunctions, and performance deviations, assisting with troubleshooting, root cause identification, and corrective actions.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with equipment repairs, planned outages, inspections, and scheduled maintenance activities to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
  • Support Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls (IC&E), and other technical personnel with operational and maintenance activities within established qualifications and assigned responsibilities.
  • Follow all plant safety, environmental, and operating procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), equipment isolation, hazardous energy control, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Fulfill other tasks as assigned by the O&M Manager and plant management, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of plant operations.

Benefits

  • Eligibility for an annual performance bonus.
