About The Position

The Operations and Chemistry Lead guides cross-functional laboratory operations, coordinating test planning and execution readiness and driving continuous improvement. The role works with stakeholders to complete laboratory test requests on time and to a high standard while aligning work with strategic and program objectives. The position oversees compliance activities related to Flammability Limits and Maximum Allowable Quantities (MAQ), manages Device Under Test (DUT) shipments and readiness, and supports logistics and laboratory resource planning. It also maintains equipment calibration oversight, performs and documents Method 9 observations, and supports environmental compliance verification. The role facilitates Business Plan Deployment (BPD) activities, leads weekly CTMS test-request and Battery Systems Lab (BSL) priority meetings, and audits DUT cards and Quality Gates. It drives process improvements across test requests, work orders, shipping, and chemistry approvals; investigates test execution faults; and maintains lab documentation and standards. New cell chemistries must be evaluated, approved, and documented in CTMS in accordance with permits, safety standards, and internal testing protocols. The position follows a hybrid work policy: three days in the office and two days remote. The employee must be able to report to a local office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field of study.
  • Two years of experience as a Battery Systems Lab Project Coordinator or in a related occupation.
  • Two years of experience with high-voltage battery testing, environmental regulatory requirements, ISO 17025 implementation, and flammability limits, including related documentation, tracking, and compliance activities.
  • Two years of experience using CTMS to create, track, and maintain accurate test requests, DUT records, and chemistry approvals.
  • Two years of experience executing and improving incoming and outgoing quality controls, including DUT inspection, documentation verification, and feeding issues into corrective action and continuous-improvement processes.
  • Ability to report to a local office under the hybrid schedule of three days in-office and two days remote.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional lab operations, including test planning, execution readiness, and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to complete lab test requests on time and to a high standard, in alignment with strategic and program objectives.
  • Monitor and audit Flammability Limits and Maximum Allowable Quantities (MAQ) for regulatory compliance, permit adherence, and safe operations.
  • Track DUT shipments, test readiness, and demand forecasts to support lab resource and capacity planning.
  • Provide lab shipping and logistics coordination, including accurate documentation and timely movement of DUTs and test materials.
  • Perform and document Method 9 observations for environmental compliance and traceability, including conducting audits with the EPA for compliance verification.
  • Oversee calibration schedules for mobile and fixed lab equipment and audit calibration processes for traceability and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Facilitate Business Plan Deployment activities, including Method 9 traceability, chamber utilization reporting, and ESA cost tracking for BEV3 and related test programs.
  • Lead weekly CTMS test-request and BSL priority meetings to manage demand, verify request completeness, and prioritize requests transparently based on risk.
  • Audit DUT cards and Quality Gates to support data integrity, timely testing, and metric-based process improvements.
  • Lead continuous-improvement work through TIP, PFMEA development, and cross-team collaboration to improve CTMS test requests, work orders, shipping, and chemistry approvals.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for test execution faults and coordinate corrective actions, escalations, and resource allocation to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain and improve lab documentation and process standards, including the BSL Onboarding Handbook, standard work, and monthly HPU calculations.
  • Ensure new cell chemistries are evaluated, approved, and documented in CTMS in alignment with environmental permits, safety standards, and internal testing protocols.
