About The Position

Duquesne Light Company offers summer internships that provide a hands-on, meaningful employment opportunity in a supportive setting that cultivates learning and collaboration. Duquesne Light’s internship program will provide you with a valuable experience and a solid start to your career in various disciplines. Internships are full-time (40 hours/week), paid, and run for 12 weeks (May-August). Internships are located in Pittsburgh and follow DLH’s Hybrid Work Model. Candidates must be full-time, degree-seeking students enrolled in an accredited college or university and have completed their Sophomore year of studies. Candidates must be in good academic standing. Candidates must be willing to work the required schedule as defined in the job description. Demonstrated leadership ability through studies, employment or extracurricular activities. Aptitude for problem solving; strong communication skills. The Operations Analytics interns will work special projects involving data analytics to support business analysis and decision making. Examples include - safety fatigue analysis, circuit performance analysis, prediction analytics, vehicle use/drive times, inspection sampling rates, etc.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a BS or MS program in Engineering, Analytics, Data Science, Economics, Math, Computer Science, or Information Systems.
• Completed Sophomore year of studies.
• Good academic standing.
• Willing to work the required schedule.
• Demonstrated leadership ability through studies, employment or extracurricular activities.
• Aptitude for problem solving.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
• Must be in the immediate Pittsburgh area for the summer.
• Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and social media screen.

Responsibilities

• Work special projects involving data analytics to support business analysis and decision making.
• Conduct safety fatigue analysis.
• Perform circuit performance analysis.
• Engage in prediction analytics.
• Analyze vehicle use/drive times.
• Evaluate inspection sampling rates.
