About The Position

The Operations Analyst is responsible for improving terminal‑level profitability, asset utilization, and service performance by converting transportation and financial data into actionable operational insights. This role exists to ensure that terminals are using trucks, trailers, containers, labor, and routes efficiently—and that leadership decisions are grounded in measurable performance data rather than anecdotal reporting. The Operations Analyst does not manage day‑to‑day dispatch, but instead provides performance transparency, variance analysis, and decision support to executive leadership and terminal management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Transportation, or related field
  • 3–7 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or operations analytics
  • Strong financial literacy (P&L analysis, cost drivers, margin analysis)
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with TMS data (e.g., TMW, Trimble, or similar) preferred
  • Ability to communicate insights clearly to non‑financial operators
  • Willingness to challenge assumptions using data
  • Required to stand, walk, use hands/fingers, handle/feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to read, write, talk, and hear.
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 40lbs.
  • Vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.

Responsibilities

  • Transportation & Financial Data Analysis Analyze terminal‑level P&L performance, including revenue per truck, cost per mile, margin by lane, and fixed vs variable cost absorption
  • Identify performance variances across terminals and isolate root causes (routing, asset mix, pricing, utilization, downtime)
  • Build and maintain standardized performance reports for weekly, monthly, and quarterly reviews
  • Asset Utilization & Routing Optimization Monitor utilization of trucks, trailers, and containers by terminal
  • Identify under‑utilized or misallocated assets and quantify financial impact
  • Analyze empty miles, deadhead percentages, and dwell time to highlight routing inefficiencies
  • Work closely with Fleet Services to support recommendations for asset redeployment, capacity reduction, or targeted growth
  • Decision Support & Accountability Prepare executive level summaries highlighting risks, opportunities, and recommended actions
  • Support VP of Operations and terminal leadership with data driven decision scenarios
  • Participate in monthly terminal performance reviews and document action items
  • Ensure terminal managers understand financial results and the operational drivers behind them
