About The Position

The Operations Analyst program is designed for recent or soon to be college graduates to learn - then build upon - a foundation of knowledge in the investment industry with a focus on investment operations, data and technology enablement. This program introduces participants to the core of investment operations while providing exposure to evolving skillsets that are reshaping the industry, such as data analytics, automation, workflow engineering and AI. New hires into this program will start their journey as part of a cohort of Operations Analyst. Over three weeks, participants experience a comprehensive firm and financial services overview which is designed with the goal of setting new hires up for success as Analysts in the Operations organization at Parametric. Operations Analyst program participants learn about products, services, and how various business units at Parametric - and across Morgan Stanley - work together. At the conclusion of the three-week program, participants are aligned to work in one of the many Operations teams which includes Portfolio Administration, Corporate Actions, Trade Settlements, Account Onboarding, Account Activity Management, Account Oversight, and Billing Solutions, with the opportunities to apply system thinking, data and process improvement skillsets to real-world challenges. This role is part of Parametric's hybrid working model, which includes working in the office 3 days a week and choosing to work remotely or in the office the remaining days of the week.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree, with a concentration in STEM fields (e.g. Industrial/Process Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Science, Software Engineering, Data Management, etc) or Finance, Accounting, Economics with strong technical aptitude
  • Strong Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and manage high volumes of data with tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail & highly process-oriented mindset
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently under tight deadlines, while also contributing effectively in teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interest in starting a career in the investment management industry
  • Must be able to work full-time (40 hours a week) by the program start date

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred familiarity in one or more of: Alteryx, Tableau, SQL, Python or similar
  • Leadership skills are encouraged, particularly in driving adoption of new processes and tools

Responsibilities

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders and other key points of contact in a professional manner to resolve issues with urgency and accuracy
  • Research, analyze, and resolve operational issues, increasingly using data-driven methods
  • Communicate with internal and external contacts regularly to resolve issues, confirm information, provide status updates or information, among others
  • Collect observations and turn into actionable insights and recommendations for improvement
  • Complete daily assigned operations transactions, which may include cash or position reconciliation, trade posting, processing market events, new account setup, account activity recording. Do so in an accurate, timely, and comprehensive manner
  • Perform verification checks on similar work done by others on the team, to ensure accuracy of information
  • Ensure thorough and accurate record keeping/maintenance of client records and files
  • Maintain metrics, data and documentation
  • Support the adoption of new tools and solutions in Operations, e.g. workflow automation, data reporting and analytics, etc.
  • Assist with development and roll out of innovation initiatives such as developing metrics, data analytics, process optimization, AI
  • Ad-hoc and project work as needed.
