Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in a field related to engineering, computer science, or data science
Proficiency in computer programming
Experience working in a production environment
Strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively make decisions using analytical and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally, build partnerships, and seek “win-win” solutions to meet business objectives
Ability to quickly learn new concepts in multiple domains including process automation and information technology
Ability to work autonomously alongside other teams to identify and resolve process issues
Ability to learn complex industrial and physical processes at a deep level of understanding

Nice To Haves

Experience working in the metals industry
Experience working in level 2 process automation (according to the Purdue Model)
Experience in software development, especially .NET framework and C-family languages
Experience working with SQL databases such as Oracle SQL
Experience working with human machine interfaces (HMI’s) such as WinCC

Responsibilities

Maintaining, improving, and developing level 2 automation systems for the ArcelorMittal Calvert hot strip mill
Developing software solutions using a range of programming languages including FORTRAN, C++, and C#
Maintaining databases that record critical process data
Conducting incident investigations using specialized tools such as IBA
Conducting statistical analysis to tune physical models and improve system performance
Maintaining digital tools including human machine interfaces (HMI’s) and shop-floor camera systems
