Design, develop, and prototype artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities for Operational Technology (OT), Industrial Control Systems (ICS), and cyber-physical environments. The role applies AI, cybersecurity, and operational systems expertise to improve OT asset visibility, threat detection, vulnerability analysis, anomaly detection, incident response, and operator decision-making. The engineer analyzes OT data sources—including network telemetry, asset inventories, logs, sensor and process data, threat intelligence, and security alerts—to identify opportunities for AI-enabled automation and analytics. Responsibilities include developing and evaluating machine learning models, AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation capabilities, and other tools tailored to OT safety, availability, latency, and mission requirements. The role partners with OT engineers, cybersecurity specialists, data scientists, and mission stakeholders to develop deployable capabilities from research and prototypes. It also involves evaluating emerging AI technologies for secure use in on-premises, air-gapped, disconnected, intermittent, and bandwidth-limited environments. Applicants selected will undergo a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
