About The Position

Eaton's division is currently seeking an Operational Technologies Engineer. This role involves developing, leading, and planning Manufacturing Engineering initiatives to achieve significant advancements in productivity, product cost, quality, and plant facilities equipment maintenance. The engineer will perform a wide variety of engineering and technical tasks, applying engineering knowledge to solve complex problems related to products, materials, manufacturing processes, tests, and unique design applications. A key responsibility will be managing Industry 4.0 projects, including automation, Digital Core, IIoT, additive manufacturing, and systems integration at the Cleveland, TN plant, ensuring project objectives and timelines are met. The role also includes developing approaches to process, tooling, equipment, facilities, and cost issues using Industry 4.0 methodologies, guiding plant teams on machine connectivity and data acquisition, and assisting in the development, submission, and approval of business cases for Industry 4.0 projects. Training plant personnel on deployed Industry 4.0 tools and technologies to ensure successful adoption and achieve improvement objectives is also crucial. The engineer will develop expertise in Industry 4.0 tools and technologies to serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for the Cleveland, TN site team. Additionally, they will establish and maintain project expenses and capital expenditures within pre-established budgets and timelines, assist in developing technical, engineering, and support talent, and provide technical expertise or support related to automation and manufacturing processes. The position is fixed at the Cleveland, TN location, but telecommuting from a home office may be allowed. The standard work week is 40 hours, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Technical Science or a directly related field plus three (3) years of experience with reading and using wiring, connection, schematic, and ladder logic diagrams to troubleshoot control systems.
  • Three (3) years of experience in Controls engineering, programming, additive manufacturing, big data and analytics.
  • Three (3) years of experience in Machine connectivity, communication protocols and data management.
  • Three (3) years of experience in IT infrastructure and system integration.
  • Three (3) years of experience with Computer and software tools - including advanced Excel capabilities (i.e. pivots, macros).
  • Three (3) years of experience in Selecting and installing PLC hardware and software.
  • One (1) year of experience in Programming robotics or other automation in support of the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead and plan Manufacturing Engineering initiatives which will result in significant advancements in productivity, product cost, quality and/or the maintenance of the plant facilities equipment and its production process.
  • Perform a wide variety of engineering and technical tasks involving the application of engineering knowledge and the development of solutions to complex problems pertaining to products, materials, manufacturing processes, tests, and unique design applications.
  • Manage Industry 4.0 projects including automation, Digital core, lloT, additive manufacturing, systems integration at the Cleveland, TN plant and manage project objectives and timelines.
  • Develop approaches to solving problems in processes, tooling, equipment, facilities, and cost utilizing Industry 4.0 methodologies.
  • Guide and support plant teams on machine connectivity and data acquisition activities.
  • Assist manufacturing teams in the development, submission and approval of business cases for Industry 4.0 project opportunities.
  • Train key plant personnel on the industry 4.0 tools and technologies being deployed to ensure successful adoption and achieve improvement objectives.
