About The Position

The Operational Radiography Analyst role, located in Albuquerque, NM is an onsite position within NNSA’s NA-84 Office of Nuclear Incident Response, Nuclear Emergency Support Team’s (NEST) Standards & Training Program (NSTP). This role serves to support the NSTP team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering/science related field or a H.S. diploma and 6+ years’ experience in direct counter WMD/Rad/Nuc work.
  • Experience in industrial or medical radiography or other Non-Destructive Assay (NDA) or Examination (NDE).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to work in an environment that changes rapidly.
  • Must be an independent, self-starter with excellent organizational skills and an ability to multi-task and be comfortable working with a team of technical experts in varying fields of security and emergency operations disciplines.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform in a dynamic environment.
  • DOE site access and JTOT interactions will require the qualified candidate be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a DOE Q security clearance. The candidate’s written consent to conduct a background check for the purposes of obtaining a security clearance may be required as a condition of employment.
  • Ongoing reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal substances may be conducted as a requirement for ongoing access to DOE sites; the candidate’s written consent to conduct such tests may be required as a condition of employment.
  • Able to sit for extended periods and perform work in an office environment, including extensive use of computers, under sometimes stressful conditions.
  • Able to work after hours when required during exercises.

  • Experience in spectral analysis and nuclear diagnostics
  • Experience in CWMD/Rad/Nuc processes and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate transmitted field diagnostics data for accuracy.
  • Interact with responders in the field to improve data quality as needed.
  • Interact with the Joint Technical Operations Team (JTOT) and NSTP Standards division to ensure data accuracy standards are met.
  • Collaborate with the NSTP Curriculum Development and Training teams to ensure training activities and exercises are well coordinated with the THT.
  • All other duties as assigned.
