About The Position

The Arizona State Board for Charter Schools (ASBCS) is seeking an Operational Program Specialist. This position's responsibilities include reviewing documentation for compliance and consistency with statutes, Arizona Administrative Code, and the Board’s requirements and processes; supporting the agency with a diverse set of processes and projects; providing customer service and assistance to charter school operators and parents; and other duties related to the Board’s oversight of, and support for, the schools it sponsors. The Operational Program Specialist is primarily based out of the Board’s office in downtown Phoenix with infrequent travel to school sites.

Requirements

• Knowledge of best practices associated with task management and customer service.
• Knowledge of statutes, rules, policies and best practices in K-12 education (at a basic level).
• Skills in building and maintaining relationships with internal staff, school leaders, and members of the public through in person, telephone, and online interactions.
• Skills in prioritizing multiple and overlapping deadlines to ensure timely completion of tasks and projects.
• Skills in being detail-oriented in following well defined processes and criteria with validity.
• Skills in critical thinking and problem solving in a quick and efficient manner.
• Skills in clear, concise, and effective oral and written communication.
• Skills in analyzing and compiling data from various sources (database, internet, internal files, etc.), organizing facts, and drawing clear and logical conclusions.
• Skills in use of virtual presentation programs, including Zoom, Google Meet, and YouTube.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to complete detail-oriented work.
• Ability to independently follow established written processes with fidelity.
• Ability to provide high-quality customer service.
• Ability to establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with internal and external contacts.
• Ability to exhibit patience and compassion when interacting with staff, the charter community, and the public.
• Ability to speak factually and professionally regarding the rules and regulations related to public schools.
• Ability to learn to use the ASBCS SalesForce platform.
• Ability to confidently use the Google suite of programs, including the Google Drive.

Responsibilities

• Review submitted documentation for the purpose of determining compliance with Board policy, administrative rule, and state and federal statute.
• Follow established, written processes and implement them independently with appropriate levels of supervision.
• Review contract amendment submissions to determine adherence to Board requirements.
• Provide proactive and organized administrative support such as coordinating team travel and reimbursement, assisting in scheduling and facilitating informational sessions, and drafting complex communication.
