About The Position

Sloan is the world’s leading manufacturer of commercial plumbing systems and has been in operation since 1906. We are at the forefront of the green building movement and provide sustainable restroom solutions. We manufacture water- efficient products including flush valves, electronic faucets, soap dispensing and sink systems along with vitreous china fixtures for commercial, industrial and institutional markets worldwide. Sloan has an opening for an Operations Excellence Lean Engineer II in our Franklin Park, IL facility. In this role you will provide hands-on leadership and independent application of Lean Principles and Methods with a cross-functional team to drive continuous improvement initiatives. This includes leading and supporting kaizen events and improvement initiatives that are aligned with the company’s operational priorities and site-level objectives. Coach and guide team members within assigned value streams to move the team towards improved process efficiency, waste reduction, and performance outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 4+ Years Lean / Operational Excellence experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Advanced level experience working with Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead improvement activities with limited supervision
  • Demonstrates initiative and accountability in completing improvement activities
  • Effective communication skills to support and influence team members, maintaining a persuasive and credible presentation style at all levels of the organization
  • Experience with plant layout software
  • Maintains a hands-on approach to implementing and supporting process improvements
  • Willing to work extended hours and across multiple shifts

  • Willingness to get your hands dirty, build assembly cells, re-arrange warehouse racks, clean, move, and maintain equipment

Responsibilities

  • Lead Kaizen Events with a cross functional team
  • Implement a Plan for Every Part (PFEP) to improve material flow and inventory management
  • Implement 5S Program and support sustainment through standard work and visual controls
  • Develop others on Lean principles and tools for implementing creative solutions for system and process improvements.
  • Implement Tugger / Water Spider Routes to improve material delivery efficiency
  • Develop Flow Plan for Logistics Department
  • Lead and prioritize cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives across assigned value streams
  • Identify improvement opportunities within assigned areas using data analysis and observation
  • Drive flow optimization across operations
  • Drive improvements in labor productivity and variable cost efficiency
  • Participate in root cause problem solving and support implementation of corrective actions
  • Track and report progress of improvement activities using established KPIs
