Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/medtech We are searching for the best talent for Operational Excellence Intern to be in Santa Clara, CA. The Intern term is from June to August, 2026. Full time requirement (40 hours per week). Purpose: You will be responsible Position Overview the Operational Excellence Intern will support the Operational Excellence team in developing and implementing manufacturing capacity models, standard work, and end-to-end process flows for new product introductions. Working under the guidance of experienced Operational Excellence Engineers, the intern will contribute to lean-driven process improvement activities, data analysis, and documentation that help improve productivity, reduce cycle time, and support successful product launches. This role is hands-on and learning-focused, providing experience with cross-functional collaboration among R&D, NPI, manufacturing, and quality teams.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the next software programs (Visio, Autocad, Solidworks, PowerBI)
  • Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Systems Engineering or related fields.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher, which is reflective of all college coursework.
  • Familiarity with Excel (pivot tables, formulas) and basic data analysis.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
  • Operate as a team or independently under management guidance.
  • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future.
  • Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with process-mapping or basic simulation tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support the creation and maintenance of manufacturing capacity models and simple simulation/throughput analyses.
  • Assist in documenting standard work, process maps, and value-stream maps for NPI processes.
  • Collect, clean, and analyze production/process data to identify opportunities for time savings or waste reduction.
  • Participate in Kaizen events and help implement small improvement initiatives and countermeasures.
  • Prepare concise reports, visual dashboards, and presentation materials to communicate findings to the engineering team.
  • Shadow cross-functional reviews and contribute to launch readiness activities under mentor supervision.
