Under close supervision, gather data, support performance optimization in execution and adoption of solutions, by embracing business improvement methodologies and engineering practices. As the Operational Excellence Engineer I, you participate in collaboration sessions (brainstorming, fact-finding, design thinking, problem solving) with customers to drive business improvement. You will apply problem solving techniques (i.e., bottleneck analysis, RCA, Lean, design thinking, OEE, diagnostics), lessons learned, engineering skills, and best practices to support discovery. In this role, you design with a minimum viable product (MVP) mindset and iterate with customer feedback and enhancements to achieve the desired outcomes for assigned engineering projects, structure and communicate facts, insights, and data from engineering analysis into clear, audience-appropriate narratives that align stakeholders around decisions, actions, and organizational change. You will influence and motivate change in operational behavior and processes at the department level to support sustainment, review and establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for equipment and processes based on engineering analysis and data evaluation, and perform other duties as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate engineering discipline
  • No experience required
  • Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.
  • Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.
  • Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to probability, statistical analysis and reliability engineering.
  • Ability to research and interpret data of minimal complexity using hypothesis generation and Design of Experiment methodologies.
  • Knowledge of software tools (Python, SQL and Excel in a big data environment, etc.).
  • Knowledge of the processes, costs, schedules, constraints and deliverables of assigned departments to improve safety, process efficiencies, production rates, cost controls and protection of the environment.
  • Knowledge of the equipment and associated SOPs at a department level.
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Basic industry knowledge of mining and processing, familiarity with mining terminology and collaboration skills and exposure to driving results in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma process.
  • Experience working in Maintenance, Operations or Engineering role.
  • Experience assisting with Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Experience working in SAP or Business Objects.
