About The Position

Travis Credit Union’s (TCU) Operational Excellence Analyst is responsible for analyzing operational data, mapping end‑to‑end processes, and leading continuous improvement initiatives across credit union bank operations. This role partners with Operations leadership, frontline teams, and cross-functional partners to identify and implement data-driven changes to processes, products, services, and systems that improve efficiency, quality, scalability, and overall performance.

Requirements

  • Strong ability to diagnose issues, determine root cause, and assess scope and impact using structured approaches.
  • Ability to analyze operational metrics (e.g., volume, productivity, cycle time, quality, cost) to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Proficient in developing and maintaining dashboards, KPIs, and reports using tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.
  • Skilled in applying trend, variance, and root-cause analysis to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Ability to apply end-to-end process thinking to evaluate workflows, identify inefficiencies, and design improved future-state processes.
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement tools and frameworks (e.g., Lean, 5 Whys, Pareto analysis).
  • Ability to assess operational risk, internal controls, and compliance considerations in process evaluation and recommendations.
  • Effectively communicates insights and recommendations through clear presentations and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to work effectively across teams and facilitate discussions to drive alignment and outcomes.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Analytics, Operations Management, Engineering, or related discipline; or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience in analytics, operations, or process improvement.

  • Lean, Six Sigma, or analytics certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains operational dashboards, reports, and performance metrics.
  • Analyzes trends related to volume, productivity, cycle time, quality, and errors.
  • Supports root-cause analysis using quantitative data including activity-based costing.
  • Translates complex data into clear insights and recommendations for leadership.
  • Ensures accuracy and consistency of operational data and definitions.
  • Documents current-state (“as-is”) processes across Operations.
  • Creates future-state (“to-be”) workflows to support efficiency, controls, and scalability.
  • Identifies process gaps, bottlenecks, rework, and manual workarounds.
  • Maintains process maps, SOPs, and related documentation.
  • Partners with Risk/Compliance (if applicable) to ensure processes meet control requirements.
  • Leads or supports continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma concepts).
  • Quantifies benefits of proposed changes (time saved, cost reduction, error reduction).
  • Supports implementation of operational changes and measure post‑implementation results.
  • Facilitates process working sessions with frontline teams and stakeholders.
  • Partners with Operations leadership to identify performance gaps and prioritize improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborates with IT, Digital, Product, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and other business units on cross‑functional initiatives.
  • Acts as a liaison between frontline users and leadership to ensure process changes are practical and effective.
  • Supports change management efforts by communicating process changes, training impacts, and performance expectations.
  • Provides data, insights, and analysis to support decision‑making at both tactical and strategic levels.
