About The Position

As an Operations Engineer II on the JO Platform DevOps team, you will help keep our globally distributed SaaS reliable and improve how we run it in AWS. You will partner with software engineering, JO Platform TechOps, and customer-facing teams. This is a small, high-velocity team where you can have an outsized impact by shipping automation, documenting your work, and growing towards senior platform responsibilities. The role involves platform operations and support, automation and tooling, CI/CD and infrastructure management, observability, cross-team delivery, documentation and enablement, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 2–4+ years in DevOps, cloud operations, SRE, or platform engineering (or equivalent depth via production work).
  • Hands-on delivery of a SaaS or PaaS product in the cloud (multi-environment, customer-facing impact).
  • Comfort in a customer-aware role: urgency, clear communication, and ownership when production matters.
  • Track record of coordinating across internal teams and finishing work without constant direction.
  • Continuous improvement mindset—you leave systems, docs, and processes better than you found them.
  • Effective on a small, remote team: proactive, collaborative, professional English (written and spoken).
  • Demonstrable Bash and Python for real operational or automation tasks.
  • Production AWS experience (VPC, EC2, IAM, S3, RDS or similar core services).
  • Practical Terraform (modules, Git workflows); Ansible a plus.
  • Experience building or maintaining pipelines (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions preferred).
  • Docker required; Kubernetes (EKS or similar) exposure strongly preferred.
  • On-call or production support experience; structured troubleshooting in distributed systems.
  • Evidence you document what you build and how to run it.
  • Bachelor’s in CS, engineering, or related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.

Nice To Haves

  • GitOps (Argo CD / Flux), Helm, Kustomize
  • AlertManager, log aggregation, SLI/SLO thinking
  • Data platforms: ETL, streaming, or batch pipelines supporting Analytics workloads
  • Security & compliance awareness (secrets management, least privilege, audit-friendly changes)
  • Telecom, enterprise SaaS, or journey/analytics platform background

Responsibilities

  • Support production and non-production JO and Analytics environments across regions.
  • Troubleshoot incidents with peers and TechOps, contributing to root-cause analysis and follow-up improvements.
  • Build and maintain Bash and Python scripts and small tools for deployments, diagnostics, data/ops workflows, and reducing manual toil.
  • Contribute to Azure DevOps pipelines, Terraform-managed AWS resources, and Kubernetes (EKS) workloads, following Git-based change practices and team standards.
  • Help operate monitoring and alerting (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch) and tune dashboards and runbooks.
  • Coordinate with Development, Professional Services, and Support on releases, environment needs, and customer-impacting work, communicating clearly in a distributed team.
  • Write runbooks, READMEs, and handoffs for systems you touch.
  • Question how things work, propose safer/faster patterns, and adopt modern DevOps, cloud, and data pipeline (ETL/streaming) practices.

Benefits

  • Work from Home
  • Employee Belonging Groups
  • Healthcare: Dental, Medical, and Vision
  • Paid Vacation, Volunteer, and Holiday Time Off
  • Bonus opportunity
