Operational Assistance Engineer

CTI Consulting
Onsite

About The Position

CTI Consulting & Staffing is partnering with a leading global IT services and managed operations organization to place multiple Operational Assistance Engineers (DCS) for a full-time, onsite engagement in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This team provides mission-critical automation support for pharmaceutical manufacturing operations in a GMP-regulated production environment. These engineers work directly alongside plant and production teams, ensuring DCS system stability, real-time issue resolution, and continuous operational performance — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is an operational role, not a project role. If you've spent your career embedded in a live production environment troubleshooting DCS issues under pressure, this was built for you.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of hands-on DCS operations support experience in an industrial or regulated manufacturing environment
  • Production-level experience with Emerson DeltaV — including alarm management, control loop troubleshooting, and live system support (not commissioning or project-only work)
  • Proven experience providing 24x7 shift-based plant support; must be confirmed willing to work rotating shifts
  • Solid working knowledge of GMP/GxP requirements and pharmaceutical manufacturing processes
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot alarms, signals, interlocks, and control loops during live production — not just in test or staging environments
  • Experience with incident logging, escalation workflows, and SLA-driven operational support frameworks
  • Ability to perform and document Root Cause Analysis (RCA) in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Strong English communication skills, written and verbal

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on exposure to Yokogawa DCS or Siemens PCS 7
  • Emerson DeltaV, Siemens PCS 7, or Yokogawa operator/engineer certification
  • Familiarity with MES systems and DCS/MES integration concepts (ISA-95)
  • Experience with Computer System Validation (CSV) or process validation in pharmaceutical environments
  • Additional language proficiency a plus given potential for multi-site scope

Responsibilities

  • Provide shift-based, 24x7 DCS operational support across a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing facility
  • Monitor and support distributed control systems during active production execution, ensuring continuous plant stability
  • Troubleshoot DCS alarms, signal faults, interlocks, and control loop deviations in real time and under live production conditions
  • Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to identify, escalate, and resolve operational issues per defined procedures
  • Log, track, and follow up on incidents to ensure SLA compliance and proper documentation in accordance with GMP standards
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for production incidents and system failures, delivering actionable corrective findings
  • Partner with plant teams on continuous improvement initiatives to reduce repeat incidents and increase system reliability
  • Maintain accurate operational records and support audit readiness and regulatory documentation activities
