About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Data Processing Manager, this position is responsible for maintaining ITS server availability to our customers 99% of the time, excluding required preventative maintenance, including agency mission-critical systems which pertain to public and officer safety.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system, specifically the currently supported and available versions
  • Knowledge of best security strategies related to operating systems
  • Knowledge of permissions, owners, groups and how they all interact and function in the Linux operating system environment
  • Knowledge of computer operations procedures and systems
  • Knowledge of backup methodologies, procedures and ITS policies regarding the management of backups
  • Ability to support Java-based web applications
  • Ability to support current JBoss Enterprise Application Platform products, and other specialized JBoss products
  • Ability to prepare program specifications and requirements, troubleshoot complex problems and work flows
  • Ability to process information logically
  • Ability to interpret technical information relating to network operating systems and other areas of data processing

  • Current FDLE members who have satisfactorily completed at least six months of the probationary period for their current position

Responsibilities

  • Performing installation, support and maintenance of system hardware and software
  • Providing lifecycle maintenance and support for Software programs managed by OSA
  • Consulting with customers, peers, and management to conduct information assessments in order to determine business needs and to define system requirements. Provide consulting services both internally and externally to FDLE and other state agencies
  • Providing support of system software through diagnosis of problems and implementation of changes to resolve problems and maintain software at the most current level
  • Performing regular monitoring routines to ensure that systems are available
  • Developing and implement specialized programs, routines, and systems designs to supplement and enhance system software
  • Providing professional advice and guidance relative to the effective use of information technology to support FDLE programs
  • Providing professional training to ITS staff as needed on applications and systems in the incumbent’s areas of responsibility
