About The Position

The Operating Room Technician supports clinical care by assisting operating room staff with surgical procedures and related room operations. The role opens sterile supplies and instruments as directed, transports surgical patients safely to and from the operating room, and assists with patient positioning and preparation. It also involves obtaining and returning equipment and supplies, helping turn over and clean operating rooms between procedures, maintaining operating room supply par levels, and handing off specimens while following proper handling policies. The technician is expected to work in a self-directed manner and demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal, customer service, professional interaction, flexibility, and adaptability.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• BCLS certification required or must be obtained within six months of hire.
• Ability to perform duties in a self-directed fashion.
• Excellent written or verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.

• Flexibility and adaptability to changes.

Responsibilities

• Open sterile supplies and instruments as directed by operating room staff.
• Safely transport surgical patients to and from the operating room.
• Assist with positioning and prepping patients.
• Obtain and return equipment and supplies for procedures.
• Assist with turnover and cleaning of operating rooms between procedures.
• Maintain supply par levels within the operating room.
• Perform specimen hand-off and follow proper specimen-handling policies.
