About The Position

Serves as the point of contact for the surgery department for the purpose of scheduling procedures. Responsible for coordinating schedules of physicians, operating rooms and other necessary staff. Reports any problems to the appropriate manager or clinical coordinator.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of medical procedures and processes, knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to retain information, multi-task, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure in a complex and changing working environment.
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills with experience using MS Office, data entry skills.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately schedules patients for surgery.
  • Schedules operating rooms, surgeons and special equipment staff for procedures.
  • Distributes pre and post-operative information to patient.
  • Sends and receives fax and email documents, maintain necessary documentation and logs.
  • Consistently reviews work processes to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency during the assigned shift.
  • Performs other functions as assigned.
  • Communicates routinely with anesthesia providers and surgery management to ensure effective use of surgery schedule time.
