About The Position

Crown Point Surgery Center is seeking a motivated OR Registered Nurse to join their team. Crown Point Surgery Center is a fast-paced ASC environment committed to producing the highest quality work and experience for patients and their families. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for all age patients in the operating room, adhering to nursing standards of practice and Center policies. The nurse will make decisions regarding direct patient care needs and communicate effectively with physicians, patients, family members, other departments, and team members. Additional responsibilities may include serving on committees and participating in quality improvement audits and projects as designated by the Nurse Manager of the Operating Room and/or Director of Nursing.

Requirements

Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
Currently licensed in the state.
CPR required.
Advanced life support certification required.
One year experience required in an intra-operative setting.
Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities.
Physically and emotionally capable of performing responsibilities of position.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
General familiarity with medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures for an operating room.

Responsibilities

Assess patients at intervals as stated in policies and procedures.
Develop an individualized perioperative plan of care.
Implement the plan of care using interventions to protect the patient from injury, perform count procedures, ensure correct site surgery, manage specimens, and communicate patient status.
Administer medication(s) appropriately.
Perform interventions to maintain patient's wound and tissue perfusion, genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological systems, and fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balances.
Perform interventions to ensure the patient is at or returned to normothermia and protected from infection.
Assess knowledge level of patient or designated support person and provide education.
Actively involve patient or designated support person in decisions affecting their perioperative plan of care and rehabilitation.
Protect patient’s rights, dignity, and privacy.
Provide culturally competent, age-appropriate, ethical care within legal standards of practice.
Provide consistent and comparable care regardless of the setting.
Evaluate the patient’s progress toward attaining outcomes.
Transfer care as appropriate.
Delegate tasks as appropriate according to the state Nurse Practice Act and job descriptions.
Document nursing care.
Collaborate effectively with other disciplines as appropriate.
Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects.
Participate in the performance appraisal process.
Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships.
Maintain required competencies.
Attend required meetings and educational sessions.
Act as a patient advocate and maintain privacy of all appropriate information.
