Under general supervision of the ASC Administrator, the OR RN uses the nursing process, collaborates with the physician and healthcare team in the delivery of care to patients who are preparing for, have had a surgical or other invasive procedure. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient populations served, as well as the principles of growth and development as it relates to the different life cycles. The OR RN utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, provide, document, and evaluate care. This includes ongoing and systematic data collection, determining nursing diagnoses and patient goals, coordinating and planning the delivery of nursing care with a multidisciplinary team, implementing interventions, and evaluating patient progress. The role involves effective communication with physicians and team members, providing patient/family teaching, administering and reconciling medications, adhering to infection prevention protocols, and demonstrating an understanding of patient rights. The nurse must also demonstrate adaptability, problem-solving, and professional behavior, participate in program evaluation and process improvement, and promote professional growth through continuing education and by serving as a preceptor or mentor. Active participation in survey readiness and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards is also required. The nurse must abide by the HMH Legal Compliance Code of Conduct, maintain patient confidentiality and appropriate handling of PHI, and maintain a safe work environment. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
