About The Position

This is a full-time position responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment within the Operating Room suites and associated areas. The role involves detailed cleaning procedures, handling of waste, and managing linen, all while adhering to strict safety and infectious control guidelines. The position requires the ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively, and maintain a professional appearance.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year experience in institutional cleaning.
  • Good knowledge of housekeeping.
  • Knowledge of guidelines for infectious waste.
  • Ability to follow written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to present a neat appearance and pleasant manner.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning of all Operating Suites.
  • Maintaining Surgery Corridor, Instrument Processing Room, and Sterilization Room.
  • Handling of all trash in the sterile area, including bagging and following guidelines for infectious waste.
  • Following proper procedures for exposure to Category I tasks.
  • Following proper procedures for handling hazardous waste materials.
  • Managing all linen in the Operating Room area, both dirty and clean.
  • Requesting housekeeping supplies from the Purchasing Coordinator.
  • Stocking and maintaining scrub sinks.
  • Informing the Operating Room Supervisor of any noted equipment malfunctions.
  • Assisting in stocking supplies from the Store Room to the Supply Room.
  • Taking on additional duties as asked by the Operating Room Supervisor.
