About The Position
Launch Your Operating Room or CVOR (Open Heart) Nursing Career with Christiana Hospital Paid Operating Room & CVOR RN Fellowship Program. This is a full-time, 36 hours per week position. Christiana Hospital is proud to offer our 26-week paid OR & CVOR RN Fellowship Program, designed to develop confident, highly skilled perioperative nurses. Candidates must be available and willing to train and work in either the Operating Room or CVOR. Final placement will be determined based on organizational needs, clinical experience, and overall best fit. This immersive and structured program prepares nurses for success in one of the most dynamic areas of healthcare. Program highlights include rotations across multiple surgical specialties, comprehensive perioperative didactic education, hands-on, progressive clinical training, dedicated mentorship from experienced OR & CVOR nurses, and a gradual transition to independent RN practice. Upon completion, fellows will be fully prepared to function independently as an Operating Room nurse, and eligible to transition to the CVOR team. Requirements
- BSN preferred (or commitment to obtain within 3 years)
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years RN experience (Med/Surg or Stepdown preferred)
- OR Minimum 2 years as a Certified Surgical Technologist + RN program completion
- Must be available to train and work in either Operating Room or CVOR
- Must commit to continued employment following successful completion of the fellowship.
Responsibilities
- Train and work in either the Operating Room or CVOR.
- Participate in rotations across multiple surgical specialties.
- Engage in comprehensive perioperative didactic education.
- Undertake hands-on, progressive clinical training.
- Receive mentorship from experienced OR & CVOR nurses.
- Transition to independent RN practice.
- Function independently as an Operating Room nurse upon completion.
- Be eligible to transition to the CVOR team upon completion.
