About The Position

As a member of the operating room team, your top priority as an Operating Room Attendant is a safe and comfortable surgical experience for every patient. That means ensuring all transport equipment is available, sterile, and in working order when needed. Your personality and professionalism shines through assisting in transportation of patients to and from surgery. Calm, cool, and proactive, you’re a team player as you work alongside physicians, families, visitors, peers and other departments. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience in lieu of diploma
  • American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to perform simple mathematical calculations with a reasonable degree of accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the transporting patients to and from surgery.
  • Ensures all movable equipment is safely stored, supplies are removed from hallways and stored in respective spaces.
  • Report nonfunctional or broken equipment to management.
  • Assist in maintaining adequate inventory levels.
  • Identify specific patients accurately and ready patients for transport to surgery.
  • Use appropriate cleaning solutions after each use of equipment
  • Assist the operating team with turnover between cases.
  • Interact with patients, families, visitors, fellow employees to ensure a professional and courteous environment.
  • Attend all required safety training programs and maintain responsibilities related to general safety, department or service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
  • Perform duties using standard precautions and OSHA guidelines.
