About The Position

This major teaching and research hospital, recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the “Top 10 Hospitals” in Michigan, has been advancing care since 1953. It is a Level II trauma center and has been recognized for clinical excellence and innovation in the fields of orthopedics, neurosciences, women’s health, heart & vascular, and cancer care. The Operating Room Attendant works under the direction of the Operating Room Attendant Supervisor. The scope of work includes turning over OR rooms, wiping down equipment, mopping floors, restocking supplies and housekeeping carts, picking up patient beds for surgeries, and making runs to the Lab and Blood Bank when requested. The role requires providing the highest quality of service delivered efficiently, effectively, and compassionately 100% of the time.

Requirements

• High School Diploma Required

Nice To Haves

• Six months to one year prior OR assistant experience is Preferred

Responsibilities

• Deliver and disinfect case carts; return dirty carts to CPD.
• Dock Neptunes for cleaning.
• Transport dirty scopes and biohazard bins between Cysto and CPD.
• Clean and reset OR rooms between cases (wipe equipment, mop floors).
• Assist with patient transfers post-surgery.
• Set up rooms with equipment for upcoming procedures.
• Dispose of dirty linen and garbage properly.
• Restock clean linen and replace soiled bags in OR cores.
• Restock general supplies (foam, gloves, masks, specimen cups).
• Maintain housekeeping carts, mops, buckets, and Formalin.
• Clean and organize storage areas and equipment.
• Report broken equipment to appropriate personnel.
• Make runs to Lab and Blood Bank as needed.
• Participate in Massive Blood Transfusion Protocol when required.
• Deliver services efficiently, effectively, and compassionately in alignment with organizational standards.
