About The Position

This role is for an Operating Room Attendant in the South Tower of Royal Oak Hospital. The unit consists of 16 Operating Rooms (ORs) with multidisciplinary teams, recognized nationally for Orthopedics and Neurosurgery. As a Level 1 Trauma Center, the team manages acute and urgent trauma, as well as scheduled procedures for pediatric and adult populations. The department utilizes advanced technologies such as Surgical Theatre, robotic-assisted, endoscopic, and minimally invasive surgeries. Royal Oak Hospital is recognized as a top hospital in Michigan and nationally, serving as a major academic and referral center with Level I adult and Level II pediatric trauma designations. It has achieved Magnet designation four consecutive times and houses Michigan’s first Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma Required

Nice To Haves

  • Six months to one year prior OR assistant experience is Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Turnover the OR room, wipe all the equipment down in the OR room, mop the floors.
  • Restock supplies and housekeeping carts.
  • Pick up patient beds for the surgeries of the day.
  • Makes runs to the Lab and Blood Bank when requested by the OR room.
  • Deliver and disinfect case carts; return dirty carts to CPD.
  • Dock Neptunes for cleaning.
  • Transport dirty scopes and biohazard bins between Cysto and CPD.
  • Clean and reset OR rooms between cases (wipe equipment, mop floors).
  • Assist with patient transfers post-surgery.
  • Set up rooms with equipment for upcoming procedures.
  • Dispose of dirty linen and garbage properly.
  • Restock clean linen and replace soiled bags in OR cores.
  • Restock general supplies (foam, gloves, masks, specimen cups).
  • Maintain housekeeping carts, mops, buckets, and Formalin.
  • Clean and organize storage areas and equipment.
  • Report broken equipment to appropriate personnel.
  • Make runs to Lab and Blood Bank as needed.
  • Participate in Massive Blood Transfusion Protocol when required.
