About The Position

This job provides technical support services, assists with the delivery of patient care by functioning as a member of the surgical team, and performs all job duties of an operating room assistant. Provides service specific assistance with or and anesthesia equipment and supplies, provides safe, technical support to anesthesia staff with direct patient needs, troubleshoots equipment, second scrubs on some procedures, precepts new ORAs, assists with evaluation of new hires, and assists with development of orientation material.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 2 years of Patient Care experience
• Operating Room or Anesthesia Technical Support experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
• Successful completion of planned instructional or sponsored course
• Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
• Proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to function calmly in high pressure situations.
• Must be able to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, on call availability).
• Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care duties.
• Performs indirect patient care duties.
• Maintains a clean, safe environment in patient care and support surgical areas.
• Assists in the day-to-day operations of the department/unit.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
• Other related duties as required.
