About The Position

Responsible for supporting high-quality patient care, maintaining patient safety, and assisting with clinical and operational activities in the operating room environment. Promotes a patient and family-centered care environment through professional and courteous interactions with patients, families, visitors, and hospital staff. Provides orientation and wayfinding assistance to patients, families, and guests. Demonstrates knowledge of hospital services, department locations, procedures, and patient care resources. Directs patients, families, and visitors to appropriate services and support resources. Independently transports patients and assists with patient transfers as needed. Verifies patient identity using two approved patient identifiers. Ensures patient safety and comfort during transport and transfers, including the use of appropriate safety measures and support devices. Adheres to all special handling and precaution requirements when transporting patients with specific clinical needs or isolation precautions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Medical Office/Hospital/Managed Care Experience 0-1 year required
  • Operating Room Experience 0-1 year preferred
  • Must be able to comprehend written directions for mixing cleaning supplies and ordering supplies.
  • Must be aware of proper body mechanics when assisting in patient transfer and lifting of heavy objects.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with other health care members.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the surgical team.
  • Must constantly be alert and attentive to progress of O.R. schedule to meet tight deadlines.
